Heralding from England, Sue moved to the U.S. in 1982. Sue has 27 years experience
in real estate, relocation and in media marketing including, print, TV, radio and the
Internet. She is heavily involved in the Community and is an active member of the Key
Largo Rotary Club and the Key Largo and Islamorada Chambers of Commerce.

I'm a Key Largo resident since 1981. I came to visit and never left. I spent my first
ten years tending bar at the local Gilberts Tiki bar. This allowed me to meet most of
the town! When I was pregnant with my first child in 1992, I decided I needed a life
change and went to real estate school. I've been selling ever since. My first
purchase was a mobile home in the '80s. Then, my first Port Largo non-waterfront
home in 1989. Three children later, we moved onto the water in Port Largo in 1998
and are now in our third Port Largo home today. Being the mother of three makes
me knowledgeable of the school system (Monroe County School District) and local
happenings for children.
I do most of my business in the Port Largo subdivision. It's truly a great family
subdivision! Within Century 21 Prestige Realty, I have earned high designations
such as the Double Centurion Award. I was No. 5 sales person in 2005 within
our company and its 13 offices and over 200 agents. Overall, I'm happy to live
here and if you're looking for a knowledgeable realtor, call me.

I began my working career as an analytical research chemist with Standard
Oil Research & Development in the Chicago, Illinois area. In 1972, I formed my
own computer software and development company “Standard Computer
Systems, Inc.” in Chicago. Where I built a successful computer software
design company as well as a computer service bureau. I sold the companies
in 1976 and moved to a 42nd-floor condominium in the Columbus Plaza building
on Chicago’s “Magnificent Mile”.
In 1977, I formed Advantage Group Limited, a financing and leasing company. We purchased and leased everything from
heavy construction equipment to real estate property. During that time, I built custom racing sailboat (designed by Dick
Carter) and was very active the the Chicago Regatta scene. I belonged to the Burnham Park Yacht Club and raced every
summer weekend and every Chicago to Mackinaw race.
In 1983, I sold my interests in the leasing firm and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where I became involved in the design
and marketing of computer equipment for Northern Telecom (now, NORTEL).
In 1984, I became one of only two people in the western hemisphere authorized to provide custom software for NORTEL’s
central office telephone switches. I moved to to the Florida Keys, bought a house in Barbados and spent the next several
years traveling the Caribbean and Latin America as a highly-paid independent telecommunications designer and consultant.
During that time, I spent my spare time perfecting my skills in magic, slight-of-hand and twisting balloons. On weekends I
visited retirement homes and children’s homes entertaining them.
In 1997, I got permanent custody of my two sons, Nate (9) and Nick (8). I had to give up my traveling lifestyle in order to
properly care for my children, so I liquidated my overseas assets and started an Internet dial-up and hosting service which
boomed, but ended in disaster when I attempted to enter the DSL marketplace. It never occurred to me that Bell South
would so misrepresent their intentions and be so predatory toward one of their customers.
I soon realized that I could become a very effective real estate specialist by combining my broad experience in the areas of
real estate, technology, financing, marketing, business management and planning. I have been involved in real estate in one
way or another since 1977 and enjoy the real estate arena. I thrive on the challenge of being more capable and better
informed than my peers.
Most of all, I enjoy helping others. I have been successful at everything I have attempted in my life. Why? Because my
emphasis has always been on service, trust and “mutually beneficial relationships”.
I look forward to helping you with your real estate needs.
Cheers,
Dick Farrand
